Mission Week 7: Arriving to the Field
One of the last breakfasts in the CTM was Waffles! it was like a dream come true!! then we had pizza too for the last dinner! it was sad saying bye to all my friends at the CTM but i was also super excited to get to the field.
Going to the airport went super well! i was worried about an overweight bag that was 32 Kg and they are suposed to be 23 or under to be covered by my ticket otherwise i would have to pay for the extra weight. i was ready to pay and a little worried about it, but when i checked my luggage in the guy told me that it woulld be no charge! i was soo happy andd grateful. the Airlines Azul is the best! the owner is apearently a member of our church so they told me a friend owns it and to not worry about the bags, and then they took all three bags and checked all 3 for free! the flight was only an hour and when we got there my mission Prisedent was waiting for us. he took us to the mission home and had a pizza buffet for lunch. it was possibly the best pizza i have ever had and all the diffrent pizzas you would never think of.
Then i got a temporary companoin for the weekend and his name was Elder Farias. super awesome dude, we got streight to work after dropping my bags off and visited a recent convert. it started raining super hard and i didnt have my umbrella... but the Guy we were visiting was super nice and offred me his umbrella to borrow for the day. life saver. the rain turned the super hot sunny roads to cool and wet very quick. floods of water going down the streets. God really said Let there be rain. Fr.
We gave a short message to a new person and gave them a book of mormon too! we spoke with a super kind. one of them was a recently returned missionary, they fed us dinner too. hot dogs, or cachorro quente are super big here and they put potato straws, mayo, and ketchup on them and they are fire.
We got to clean the church and then mede lunch. my comp made chicken stroganough and it was soo good. the rains bucketed down again but this stime with intense winds too. The rain was going sidways! it did quite a bit of damage, destroyed fences, roofs, trees went down and power went out. But our street was the first street in the city that still had power. we were lucky and half the city had no power all the way up to our house.
Gunshots on day 2. it was a little wild but there was a street that was blocked off and then we could hear gunshots and apperently there was a criminal and the cops got involved and had to shoot him. apperently it is normal to hear gunshots here. but usually it is fireworks or cars and motercycles backfiring. also the day after we heard a single shot pretty close to where we were walking so that was a little wild.
After lunch we had 3 Baptisms that the sisters the day before had told us we needed to baptise them so that was dope. one of the sisters had a guitar and played and sun a hymn. afterwards she offered for others to play it so i got to play it a little and i loved it! i am 100 percent going to get a guitar now so i can play it at peoples houses for them. lots of missionaries have them apperantly.
We met a super nice lady with a cool bird called a Calepsita. super smart bird. another man we met with asked me to say a prayer and to bless his family and house which was cool.
Sunday was awesome becuase we got to meet everyone and the people we invited to church came! everyone was super happy and it was fun to greet them all.
After church we went to someones house for lunch and they fed us soo much good food it was amazing. I stuffed myself.
We visited people after and one guy was super big into working out and showed me all his Protein powder and creatine. i probably need to get some haha. we visited a super entergetic but inactive family and the kids were doing tricks handstands and cartwheels. apperantly this family does not like new missionaries but they loved me, it was awesome. i spoke to them in very broken portugues taught them a little english and showed the kids my backflip i can do. super good interaction but somthing that stuck out to me was that the father told me in portugues, "I feel like you have the Lord with you, you have a good heart." Super loving dude and he was sad that i was leaving the area monday.
We got to help bless and administer the sacrement to a family and that was super cool. they fed us after some coconut cake, Coxinha, and Brigadeiro! soo good. i then spoke a lot with this family and shared the cool jesus pictures i have with them that i really like. I spoke the most portugues that day than i have ever done, it was crazy. people here reallly like American dollars and one guy at this house wanted to trade Brazillian money for it so i did.
Today was transfer day as well as P day. i packed all my stuff and went to the mission home and went with my new comp to another area. Originally i was in Pinhais, But now i am in Ala Dois. My new comp is Elder Eyring. and yes. It is pretty cool. His Grampa is One of the 12 Apostles. He will be my Trainer.
Ok so one thing i did not know is that apperantly girls here really like missionaries a lot. and when a girl likes a missionary they are called a Snake. in my first 3 days i had 3 snakes. its kinda funny cuz the elders tell me the key is to flirt to convert. which seemed a little weird but its funny.
Also anybody who wants to message me i can no longer use Facebook messenger so please email me or use google chats if needed.
Soo many things have been happening and it is awesome. Weather is awesome and crazy, we saw loose horses running by the steet and they came to say hello, massive toads, and many more things. i apolegize for the misspellings and noncapitalizaations haha i wrote quickly and it was a lot but if yall read all this you a real one.
Curitiba is Hypeeeee!!!
but until next time... Tchau
God is good, God is Great
