Mission week 19 (02/12/2024) TRANSFERS!!!!!
Transfer day!! lots of build up to this because we had no idea what would happen but knew one of us was for sure going. Elder Eyring will be leaving, and I will stay here in Alla 2. I will get a Brazilian companion! and he doesn't speak any english so this will be fun! i'll speed up my Portuguese learning! His name is Elder Baptista, soo maybe it's a sign we bouta be bappin like crazy!
This week I had the opportunity to give my first blessing of health! It was super cool and a little nerve wracking because it was in Portuguese, but it went super well! gave it to our good friend Carlos.
One night this week we had a funny little strange surprise... we were running a little around 9:25 walking home in the city and passed a gas station. A car of people called out "hiii Elders!", which is pretty normal so we waved and kept going. but then the doors and windows opened and a group of sister missionaries stood out of the car waving! one of them i recognized as my friend from the CTM. it caught us soo off guard cuz normally we don't see ANY other missionaries... but here there was a carful of our friends, the sister missionaries haha. but we just ran home cuz we were bouta be late for curfew.
It was cool and a funny encounter.
I had sorta given up working out cuz i was gonna shrink no matter what because i can't work out with the same intensity or eat. but... i also realized its in the standards to work out for 30 minutes per day... and I need to work out to feel good. physical activity is healthy and will help you feel better both mentally and physically. So now I'm doin at least 101 pushups, 101 sit ups, and a few other things every day. I know my muscles will still shrink no matter what I do but at least now I'll feel good and still get a little pump in.
also bench pressing boxes of book of mormons... hoping the box doesn't break and end you...lol
We had two dope family nights with recent converts and investigators with young members. hoping to keep that going. playing snooker (pool) and winning of course haha.
Random parts of the week.
Finally ate at Mcdonalds here, got the big tasty sprite and it was fire.
One night Elder Eyring's phone died... so i had to use the phone chip in my phone. I got to hold the true power of being the senior. felt good lol.
We had a division with the AP's. and you already know with the AP's its gonna be litt. we made tons of contacts, Elder Clawson worked with me, and at lunch in the chow mein there was a rubber band he almost ate. We found this guy who literally looks like Mario. and I found a bullet. and unused rounds of ammunition in the favela. pretty dope. I learned a little more about how to better forget myself. There are always more ways to forget yourself more and think less of yourself and more for others.
The Super Bowl was this sunday!!!! I have no idea who won yet but we got to watch a little bit of player highlights at lunch with our football friend. it was littt, He said the Chiefs and the 49'rs are playing.
I cut Elder Eyring's hair, and faded him up nicely. Then I cut mine... I hope it's faded nice too lol, I still can't see the back lol. I just cut it blind.
At midnight me and Elder Eyring ate ice cream and açai the night before he left. It was fire.
My portugues has felt a little better this week and will skyrocket with my new comp because we can only speak portuguese.
Scripture of the week is Helaman 3:35.
it can be interpreted in many ways but it is powerful and i have really liked it. read it and see what calls your attention. and ask yourself how you can better give your heart to God.
God is Good! God is Great!
Until next time... Tchau!
-Elder Martin
