Mission Week 43

Mission week 43. (07/29/2024)

Guys! I'm a Dad! i have a son now!

This last week has been a bit different. With my comp Elder Santos ending his mission everyone was saying their goodbyes and wanting to give dinners and stuff for us to stop by their houses.

The work was going slow this last week. me and my comp were working up until the last day of his mission knocking doors and trying to get the last baptism in for him but the two solid dates we had for this week fell sadly. The opposition is really working hard against us. We had a guy confirmed to go to church and be baptized on Friday, super firm and excited. and then the next day he said everything was going wrong for him and his wife who doesn't even live with him and is kinda separated was making him go to Curitiba saturday night to be baptized in another church "Deus de Amor '' sunday. We were there with the DL to do the interview, all set to go, so the DL tried to do some convincing to resolidify the baptism but was no use, then I stepped in and taught the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with more clarity and more power than I felt I had ever done. taught that God's power, the Priesthood, literally has been restored and only the very Church of Jesus Christ that Jesus himself established truly has God's power, and that it has been restored on the earth today. The man we were teached understood, and admitted that he understood that this is Christ's church with his power and that his baptism wont do him any more good than a simple bath if it is without the power of God. it was cool, but the problem then was he was just too afraid of his ex wife or whatever being mad at him that he couldn't do it. I was frustrated but we will continue working with him.

Anyway... I had to say goodbye to my comp Elder Santos, i had been with him for 3 transfers, so 4.5 months, basically double my mission with him. it sucks to say bye cuz idk if i'll see that guy again, but he became like a brother. We always got along and I learned how to enjoy the mission with him. He helped me change and grow in many ways, to overcome a lot of my weaknesses and to baptize more people. it was like a 2nd training for me. The President put me with him, and President literally considered him as the best missionary in the mission, and so President really wants me to grow and to do great things. now i just want to go forward, continue Baptising and learning, to always be firm with people and not soft or moley to make sure to sort through the flaky people and find the people ready to be baptized and baptize them. Elder Santos was one of the best comps I have had yet on the mission, we baptized the most people together, we had fun, and we got along. I hope to one day after the mission have the opportunity to visit Brasil again and put Recife on the plan to visit there, and go see the beaches and catch a shark and see my boy Igor and others there. Twas a Good couple of transfers.

Now i am a Dad! i will be Training a new guy here! so it is considered that o have a kid, or a son. The new guy is Elder Benjamin, and he is actually from Recife too! which is wild! I don't know anything else about him yet but I'll pick him up later today.

Random things of the week!
- I have been sick this whole week and it has been super annoying. But I am slowly getting better. but we still worked and found lots of good people
- I learned how to and made coxinhas and brigadeiros which was super hype! and super good!
-When the people ending the mission left for the van they came up to me and told me that they have hope and faith in me, and that i have to "save the mission" to go and baptize people and teach the mission how cuz we don't have many leaders who know how to really baptize right now. and because I have been learning with Elder Santos I am expected to be the new baptiser. I need to be firm and not moley or soft. and baptize tons of people. That is what they expect of me. really that is what God expects of me too. So I will go and do it.

I will be training for the first time so pray for me yall, my goals is to just teach obedience, teach him how to teach, and baptize so pray for baptisms. and of course we gotta get along lol.

I'll go forward trusting in God and do my best.

Until next week... Tchau!

-Elder Martin
