Mission week 47

Mission week 47. (08/26/2024)

Chaaammaaaaaaa meu povo!
This week was a banger!!! I have been grinding my butt off working and it has been awesome!
Little side note... don't worry bout the venting in the last letter, I am all good and just threw it off my chest to move forward and hop on the grind.

This week I was able to throw down some mental walls or barriers I had because of being in an area for soo long. i have been in this area for about or 6 months and sometimes it feels like i have already talked to most people, even though i know there are more and so the wall is that mentally i feel like "oh i already tried that door, or that person" but i did a did receive a miracle wrecking ball that crushed these walls! I had a litt division with my DL and we went to his area to let my trainee be a senior and work in our area for a day. i was soo hyped cuz my DL Elder Ortiz is litttt! We are good friends and love joking around but also we love the work. I have been with a hunger to find people to baptize them for a while, this hunger has been growing to really help find these people and help them receive these blessings of God. and this division was perfect because Elder Ortiz has the same desire and hunger to act, find, contact, filter, teach, and invite to help baptize them. so we went out with full force in his area. everything was new to me, so i had no mental barriers! i just went out with a incredible desire to find, teach and invite these great people to accept the blessings of baptism! we went out with zero fear, contacting everyone, every person in the street, every house with a window or door open, everyone. and when they would listen we would use questions to filter, if they would progress, if no, invite to church, and use the second question," do you know anyone near here who might need a prayer or more hope in their day?" and grab a reference on the spot! it's soo money!! we found many people with it. we found 8 people that would genuinely hear our message, and invited every single one to accept our help to prepare them for baptism. Out of 8 invites, 5 accepted so we marked them all for the 7th of September! It was super cool! I really saw quite literally how the field is white and ready to harvest.
And then I wondered, well... if somehow I was able to go one day and mark 5 dates in another area... why can't i just do the same thing in my area??
Boom! next day found 5 more amazing people God had been preparing and marked 5 more dates! i am hyped!!! let's keep up the momentum!
Please pray for these people that they can continue firm and strong to prepare and to be baptized on the 7th of September!

the people in my area with baptismal dates:
-Abner(10 years old)
-Alessandra
-Kezia
-Kalebe
-Mariele
-Rudison

the people progressing:
-Rodrigo and Érica(process to be married, then baptized)
-Jô Ferraz (process to be married, then baptized)

I was able to open my mind to a bit of the potential that i can do! I marked 11 baptismal dates this week! that is 11 souls, children of God with names and faces brought to come closer to God. and i was able to show my trainee the new guy how to do it! I will continue on, helping as many people as we can and help my trainee to become one of the best missionaries this mission has.

random stuff of the week:
-Churrascoooo last pday and games at the institute building! super hype!
-Elder Benjamin's sister burned us for not doing exercises... ope
-helped people with addictions by taking away some mary jane, and coffee. chucked down the drain.
-many super spiritual lessons about repentance for people and the atonement and gods plan for us.
Irmão Rafyke made us a ton of super good burgers for dinner and it was awesome, I really like food lol.
-Cuzcus with Irmao Adriano and his fam and chimarrao family night
-one night 5 pizza vinte... was awesome, but we felt it that night
-Crazy stuff with identity theft trying to get a couple married and looks like someone stole his stuff and married him to someone... crazy stuff, but we are gonna get him married to his actual wife.
-followed the spirit to finally arrive at the dirt road i had an image of in my mind the whole day. got there and found the family, and marked the bap date with Abner.
-One bad thing that happened this week was next too Abners house. One of the same days we were there in the area a guy with a mask came with a gun and shot a whole family killing a bunch and wounding many ran out of bullets then ran. This was incredibly sad and traumatizing for the people there. Pray for them, and pray for little Abner who is 10 years old and his family who are in shock.
-there also has been many people getting knifed in the street outside our house.
-we were making a contact and a cat walked onto my shoulders, sat down and took a mini nap as we taught.
-2 Families thought i was brasileiro! they didn't believe that i wasn't brazilian because i sounded like one and talked like one with accent slang and all haha so that felt good.
-Followed the spirit to another dirt road leading to the family of 4 who we marked a date with all of them! super cool!
-We sang hymns for lots of Elderly members of the ward, one special one was "Joseph Smith's First Prayer" was super cool and I hope to do it more.
-started this week blazing hot in the 30's! and today hit 0 degrees after lots of rain. It's super cold again lol. Woke up to frost on the rooftops
-luckily i listened to a prompt to bring my extra jacket for Abner the little boy that we helped go to church in the cold morning. And helped him to enjoy it with a massive oversized hoodie haha. But it felt good to be able to help.
-Worked with the youth visiting people sunday and was littt!

“Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.”
This is it. This is a marvelous work. And we are doing it with the help, power, and guidance of God to bring people back to him.

God is Good! God is Great!

Until next week…. Tchau!

-Elder Martin
