Mission Week 14
Wow, it's that time of the week again already! First week of the year rolled through quick!
On New Years last monday me and my comp had to be indoors by 6:00 again, but it was actually pretty litt! We found this Panninie Press and so we made a bunch of those, and we closed the blinds set up snacks and drinks, and propped up my phone to benchwatch some of the Bible Videos, and Book Of Mormon Videos! that was fire! we set up our own missionary movie theatre here in our room! W moment.
We been giving out tonns of Book Of Mormons and minnie lessons on the street. One of those was a dope dude who lived in Austrailia for a bit, and He spoke English!
We got some fire fresh cuts with this ward member who has been a super good barber his whole life. he only uses a comb, the buzzer(which he got gold plated) and he does not use and diffrent leantgths on the buzzer it is just striight on the buzzin blades, and the razor to schave to skin. It was freakin dope cuz he cut hair super good just by feeling out pretty much. he decided to cut my hair like Arnold Swartzaneger (I do not know how to spell that name, dope dude, tricky name). So now i have a new nickname people have been calling me. Another one that was a little random is that some guy said that i look like an astronaut... i dunno some of these names are wippin right outa their back pockets. But now the nicknames i have got all are: Thor, Captain America, Spiderman, Astronaut?... and Arnold Swartzaneger! Let's gooo these are fire! But one other i forgot to mention was that i have had a lot of people ask me if i was in the Military or if we were Marines, we met this guy On the Street heard us speaking English and called over to us in english. Turns out he speaks english and was an Ex Marine! He told us a bunch of Crazy Crazy stories from when he served. wild things, and how he has served all over the world! he kept saying that we keep reminding him of the Marines he would train and go to battle with. He told us his story and how he had fallen away from God but is trying to find him again. So we can help him with that! he was kinda wild, and my comp thought he was gonna stab us or somethin, but he was a cool dude! a little drunk, tho... but we are setting up times to meet with him!
3! 3 new Baptismal invites and dates set! and tons of other new people we are teaching! we are especially excited because people are getting back from the festvities of the New Year, so we can actually teach them now!
We have met a lot of crazy guys, but one of them this week was this one-armed guy, and he said he beleives in god but not in any churches. He said he loves god and only KILLS bad guys! ope... this guy only has one arm, but he said he kills lots of bad people... he didn't really have an interest in hearing our message, but he liked that we were sharing gods word, so i hope that deemed us as good guys in his eyes, lol.
BIG NEWS GUYS! i moved up to section two in DuoLingo! hahaha. that has taken forever, but ya we movin babyyy. My Portugues has struggled this week though. For 2 days i was pretty down about it cuz i was struggling to talk to people and felt like i was able to say what i wanted. but all the ward members keep telling me my portugues is getting wayy better. I do recognize that every day it is getting better, but some days, i feel like it goes backwards, and that is the worst! but it's all just in my head. every day it is improving. fr though it has improved soo much. the Gift of Tongues is dopee!! i have been able to converse and share messages on my own! With the Spirit of God of course too, but you get the idea! I am still not super good with the language, and it is frustrating sometimes, but i know that I will get it down. i really want to be able to fully understand and speak in portugues. and i will!
Ok, we had a bit of a weird morning once... the night before i had started updating my phone before we went to bed... soo... for some reason, the alarm was not activated or on even though it is set automaticly for every day! soo... ya, we were sleepin a lil extra that day. oops. it started to feel just wrong, and the amount of sleep we were getting was just... unholy. hahaha. then we checked our phone, wondering why the alarm never went off... i had to power my phone on and it was 8:30!!!! HOLY CRAP!!! we were soo late! we are supposed to be up at 6:30! that is when my alarm was set! so ya, i guess we were accidentally a bit of Fubecca missionaries that mornin. but we hopped right into study time, haha.
You already know that the temple was awesome! it is like a relief to go, and i had been wanting to go for a while, but it was finally our turn! I love the temple here. it is beautiful and peaceful and just awesome!
I got to share my testimony in portugues for fast and testimony meeting. went pretty well, and tons of people after said they liked it. we had tons of our people come to church! it was awesome! we had 8 brand new people come that we invited! and 8 others that were the recent converts, which was awesome! 16 people that came because of us. solid stuff.
We had a big of a weird experience, we knocked this door of a family that we were teaching. We have been focusing on the lady there, but her brother answered the door only wearing a thong! Like, Bro! He was also gay and said he was waiting for his boyfriend to get there. so that was pretty awkward for us. he ran back in to put clothes on, but the lady was sleeping and not feeling well. but like broooo my eyes are burning! I cannot unsee that. when he left me and my comp just burst out laughing. it was the most random and unexpected thing and was nasty gross but hillarius. and weird. Deffinately super weird.
We have been doing phone calls with this guy who has been dodging us for soo long, but he wants to hear more and is just always busy or working. but he wanted to call to make it work. My nickname for him is "Disculpe!" haha cuz thaty is always hiis voice audio recording. he says, "Bom dia Eyring... Martin... Disculpe!" hahahaha, and proceeds to say he can't meet with us that day. but he said with this new year he wants to do better. he loves the book of mormon scriptures we share with him. but we sent him some, and then he didn't read them, and he asks for more scriptures, lol. he likes to read them with us i think. or he is just playin with us, and we can't tell if he is interested or not. but i think he is. jest not super motivated.
We got on the inside. we ARE the inside men. we are in the favella, in the village and now in the Groups. litterally. we have been talking with this guy who flies kites and there is a whole group who loves to fly kites together and it is just all the guys who live there in the village! and they added us to their group chat for flying Kites! It is called the PIPA chat. for flyinng pipas! so now we really in the game.. we can meet soo many people this way by flying kites and talking to the people there! We gettin' in the culture and all! like we are in the legig village groupchat and that is soo dope! we in the game now, babyyy!
Super solid week. When i write these letters, it is like i just throw up tons of stuff all at one time, so it is just info that spurted out onto the screen. haha. i just start writing, and it all shoots out of my fingers. but i enjoy telling yall about the stories and random things that are happening here. Love you all! Keep sharing the light of Christ and brightening peoples lives around you!
