Mission week 29 (04/22/24)

My buddy Elder Cutler cut out the appendix in his book of Mormon cuz he didnt need it, so God decided that he didn't need his either, and cut the appendix out of him... now he has 3 holes in his stomach missing an organ and we are helping them with their area while he is out of commission. Little funny... He got the surgery done at a 1.9 star rating hospital... and he said the doc showed up in jeans and crocs looking homeless... ope. Guys we had our interviews with President Bikman and a very rare moment occurred, he gave me praise! that has never happened. Normally he tells us we are sinners and need to do better. which is true every moment of our lives lol. but he said I am doing good, and doing good work. it felt really good to hear that, cuz i am usually hard on myself, always thinking i am not enough, not doing enough, and people expect more out of me. so it felt good to hear that i am doing good. Another missionary earlier in the week told me the same thing too, he said I am good enough, that I am enough and I am a great tool in God's hands. He told me i gotta be more proud of myself, but not in a prideful way haha. but to love myself more. It felt really good to hear this from multiple people. that i am doing good and it felt like God was telling me and i am doing good work, like reaffirming that. The Elder told me I need to love myself more, which has sort of been contrary to what I have been trying, i have been trying to forget myself more and more to be more humble and better as a missionary. Apparently I took it too far and needa chill out lol. FISH FRY!!! our investigator invited us over for a fish fry! This was a little different than the average fish fry I know. They fried the fish whole and you eat it whole. it was fire, and the bones gave it a good extra crunch! He wants to take us fishing one of these days. I have been eating wayyy less out here on the mission before the mission i would normally eat 5 or more times a day! here i normally only eat one time a day! Lunch! sometimes if i am lucky, and have a little energy I would grab some breakfast snack or eat a piece of bread for dinner lol. I just don't have the time or energy to cook. otherwise i would be cooking up some of my favorite chicken and other stuff. I have found other methods. just quick foods, ill list a few. -hard boiled eggs -Tapioca -Brazilian Hot dogs -Ham and cheese sandwich -protein shakes. -cereal -Microwave quick meals Fun fact, I have only had ramen noodles 2 times on the mission so far. and it was only because i was craving it. But normally i dont have much time or energy so I have just been eating the hard boiled eggs which are a genius quick thing to eat. but ya i am eating a ton less. The lunches are massive though and I pack that stuff in! I have been able to maintain my weight somewhat, I started with 175 pounds and I am 173 right now. it is just flipping from muscle to fat... bit sad. The random stuff of the week. - I dedicated a house for a family which was cool. - Racist comments with the N-word are a daily occurance and here it is normal, and not bad... sometimes they have us almost dying of laughter cuz it catches me soo off guard. They say it in English too! hard R. wild. - I made french toast. It was glorious. 10/10 would 100% do it again! - we helped a friend by destroying their drug vape thing. Destroyed a Narguile thing. - helping teach English on online calls has been super fun! I also teach a few people in person and they have memorized one of my favorite verses in English! 2 Nephi 2:25. - Elder Santos, my comp got sick from the cold rain and his nose was blocked up so he sounded like he was dying all the time. i am a little sick too but not crazy sick just an annoying runny nose and feeling tired. doesn't stop the work. - One house had waxing strips so they did one spot on my comps arm, but for me they insisted on doing my leg. Now I have a bald square on my leg lol. - saw a car smash into another one - it has been very cold here all of the sudden. We have had to use the heater in our bedroom and close the doors to sleep and study without freezing. Our house is super open to the outdoors so whatever temperature it is outside, it is the same in our house. it was 10 degrees celsius. cold. it felt really nice though when i went outside. reminded me of the mornings in the mountains when I was hunting. Keep your Covenants people and keep the commandments. when you do those two things everything else is contained within that and you just need to follow the spirit. but don't follow the spirit by waiting for it to talk to you. follow the spirit by jumping into action, being a good boy or a good girl and in your actions to do good things the spirit will work through you. when you wait for the spirit it rarely comes, but when you act, you become the companion for the spirit and it works through your good actions and good works. So Keep your Covenants, Keep the Commandments, and Act. do what Jesus would do. and watch and the miracles and blessings fall as the spirit works through your actions. Watch as you begin to see and feel a higher, better and purer joy more in your life. And Eternal joy. The joy of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love yall! Keep saying your prayers and reading your scriptures! Stay in church and Follow the prophet! Go to the temple! This is all part of keeping your Covenants and the Commandments. Do this, follow the spirit and you will be alright. God loves you, I love you and you are never alone. He is always there. Jesus is always there, he felt all your pains, he knows you, just turn to him, he is ready with his arms open to comfort you. God truly is Good! and he is truly Great! Have a great week y'all and I'll see you next week! Tchau! -Elder Martin Check the pics below | | | \/ \/ \/ https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZYjR28Ehi9siAcjK9
