Mission week 46

Mission week 46. (08/19/2024)

Opening weekend of the archery Elk and Deer Hunt in Utah!!! That's like a big holiday!
This week has had a lot of ups and downs, including goin to Curitiba to start it off, got burned by President, marked dates, dates fell and all that fun stuff, got sick and felt like a truck hit me, but I hit the road anyways.

random stuff this week:
-Burned by President
-I hit the Gym for the first time on the mish cuz we had a private gym in the secretaries apartment, so i was hyped about that, of course i maxed out all the machines... i had to... maybe a pride thing... but it felt good haha.
-Division with AP's Elder Lizana
-marked lots of dates and lots of dates fell. lots of super flakey moley people.
-I got sick the last 3 days and felt like a truck hit me, body aches, crazy headaches, throat hurting, couldn't think or focus. Then Sunday when I was doin really crappy I received a Priesthood blessing by my comp. after that i literally received strength, energy physically, mentally and hit the road feeling good and kept goin all day feeling good! super cool! love blessings, and i realized it was the first blessing i received since going into the mission field. God's power is real! and it is here on the earth!
-this thing we call "The second question" works magic! We make any contact with anyone, whether they accept us or not. We ask them if they know anyone who might need more hope or a prayer, and they give us a reference on the spot. And we find receiving people! works like magic!
-Church had 7 recent converts, and 5 investigators so it was decent.
-This pday today was litttt! Churrasco and playing ping pong, 8 ball pool, uno, and other games with our district.

(Prepare for a rant, i gotta blow this steam off a bit.)

Last Pday got chopped in half and we ended up last second being told to go to Curitiba for the training for all the newbies. so we hopped on the bus and went 3 hours to curitiba, and slept over in the secretaries house which is massive and had lots of missionaries so it was hype.
the next day was the training and was well... fun ill say. lol. went well the usual president burning everyone in general about random things. Then we separated so that president could question the newbies. bout 45 minutes later President came storming up the stairs to the room with the trainers and was red in the face with anger and a bomb went off basically. the bomb was president. burning people yelling at them about random things like staying at members houses too long, having super long lunches, then he walked up in front of my chair yelling about Futebol (soccer). saying that we cannot play futebol on friday nights with members and investigators on both sides of the field.
i responded saying "ya President you are right! we CAN play on one side of the field."
he ranted on a bit, clearly not happy with me cuz i didn't shrink before his presence...(i think people normally shrink, or cry, or look down but i looked him in the eyes... and i am not one to show a lot of emotions, so i don't think he liked that) but we walked down to join everyone, and president said, "Elder Martin, come with me i want to talk to you a bit more about this, and i don't like your body language." so i went with him to his office and his body literally shaking with anger, red in the face, and he began firing bullets of words. he said he was tired of talking about futebol, he wont allow us to play any more futebol, and how he is extremely disappointed in me, he continued yeeling, and talking about how this is the only mission without missionaries going home with torn ACL's because he won't allow futebol, ranting on saying how he didnt like my expression that i looked like i didnt agree with him and he said i would not leave that room until we were both on the same page and areed. he said i want you to agree in your heart and right now it looks like you don't. he said a bunch of other things too. I stood there nodding, clearly frustrated. " Then I spoke, acknowledging what he said, being clear, and said " So you don't want us playing any more Futebol... and continued. i said look, i have been using futebol directly with The mission purpose. to invite and help others come unto Christ. and to help baptize people. they like to play ball so we invite them, play, teach them, and bap them. and it works really well. people love it and we baptize! and we strengthen the ward with an activity for all youth and adults. we even have people from other wards coming to it. I said this is a strategy that works to baptize people, and I am using it, but you want us to stop? he replied saying that there are other strategies to baptize, and claimed that this one doesn't give fruits. (but i have seen fruits, and other missionaries have used sports and bapped 40 people in one area, and other examples that clearly show that it gives fruits.)
The rule book says to not play contact sports. contact sports are rugby and American football.
but he just said the quit it and he didn't want to hear any more, then said he still didn't like my body language and wanted me to agree in my heart. Then, i said " Look President, you wanna know what is in my heart, its this; i am ticked off frustrated and don't agree with it and i'm a bit angry. but. i will be obedient, and I will follow your rule. and with that he said alright. and ended. so ya now no more Futebol which sucks but it is what it is.

Sometimes things don't work out the way we want. but that is ok. just press on persevere, endure, and keep going diligently.
this week I studied the doctrinal mastery scriptures of the Book Of Mormon. check them out. you can search them on the Gospel library App. mark them. remember them. They are marked for a reason, they are powerful scriptures. and they will strengthen you spiritually and prepare you to bless others.
